Why balconies?
Because most apartments do not have real access to the roof.
Conventional photovoltaic panels are difficult to install on apartment buildings. You need space, approvals, electrical routes, agreements, and interventions in the common parts of the building.
Instead, many apartments already have an unused energy surface: the glazed balcony.

How the system works
The photovoltaic glass produces direct current during the day, depending on light, orientation, season, and weather conditions.
During daylight hours, the energy produced by the glass is sent directly to the electric boiler, where it heats domestic hot water.
In the evening, the system automatically switches to the grid to complete the hot water demand, so that hot water remains constantly available.
In practice, the boiler becomes the “battery” of the system.
It stores the energy produced during the day as hot water, without the cost, losses, and complexity of an electric battery.

Why we do not use an inverter and batteries
For an apartment, a conventional photovoltaic system with an inverter and batteries can become expensive, complicated, and difficult to recover financially.
The inverter and the battery increase the initial cost of the system and reduce the net energy available to the user because of conversion losses, storage losses, and self-consumption.
We chose a simpler and more efficient solution for apartments: the energy produced by the photovoltaic glass is used directly to heat domestic hot water.
The boiler practically becomes the “battery” of the system.
It stores the energy produced during the day as hot water, without the cost, losses, and complexity of an electric battery.
This keeps the system more affordable, more robust, and better suited for apartment buildings.
